Instructions
- Watch: how to make heart shaped meat pies
- Dice your potatoes, onions and set aside…2
- Place a wok on medium heat, Add the vegetable oil, when it’s hot, add the onions and sauté till translucent 3.
- Add the beef and stir thoroughly to break the chunks, and fry till it’s no longer pink
- Add the potatoes, seasonings, salt, water and cook till the potatoes are soft
- While that’s cooking, mix 2 tablespoons of flour with 1/2 cup of water, mix till you get a milky consistency and set aside.
- When the vegetables are well cooked, add the flour and water mixture, mix thoroughly, turn off the heat and let cool
- Roll out your pastry on a well floured board, and using a cutter of your choice (I used a heart shaped cutter) cut out 24 hearts (for 12 meat pies)
- Place about 1-2 teaspoons of filling in 12 of the hearts
- Using a pastry brush, dab the edges with some egg wash, place an infilled heart on top of it, and seal with a fork. Repeat for others
- Brush the tops with the remaining egg wash, and bake in a preheated oven at 350 deg F for about 30 mins (times may vary depending on oven)
