Penne Pasta, Meatballs & Sauce all cooked separately but come together at the end, to deliver a flavourful experience.
Ingredients
- Meat Balls:
1) 300 g ground beef
2) 2 tsp IHOF All Purpose Original Seasoning
3) 2 tsp IHOF Garlic, Peppers and Herbs
4) 1 tsp IHOF Barbecue Seasoning (Optional)
5) 1 egg - Sauce:
1) 4 large tomatoes
2) 1 small onion
3) 2 medium bell peppers
4) 1 tsp IHOF Hot Pepper Mix
5) 1 tsp IHOF All purpose Original
6) Olive oil - Pasta:
1) 250 g penne or any pasta of choice
2) Boiling salt water
Instructions
- Meat Balls:
1) Place ground beef in a bowl, add all the seasonings and egg, mix to combine
2) With an ice cream scoop or your hands, form about 10 balls measuring 30g each (you can either eyeball or use a weighing scale)
3) Line on a baking tray, cover and place in the fridge for a few minutes to set (optional)
4) Heat up some olive oil in a saucepan and brown the meatballs for about 5 minutes on medium-low heat, remove from the pan and set aside (covered). - Pasta:
1) Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the pasta (about 1 liter of water and 1.5 TBS salt)
2) Cook pasta till firm to the bite (Al dente), about 10-12 minutes, and set aside. - Sauce:
1) Place the onion, tomatoes, and bell pepper in a pot with a dash of water and bring to a simmering boil
2) Strain out excess water and blend to a smooth or almost smooth paste (depending on your preference)
3) Over medium heat, op up the left over oil from browning the meatballs and cook the tomato/onion/bell pepper paste till slightly reduced
4) Add the seasonings, meatballs, about ½ cup water or beef stock and cook covered for an additional 5 minutes - Final Lap:
1) Remove meatballs from the sauce, add cooked pasta, toss and let simmer for about 2 minutes over low heat
2) Serve with the meatballs and enjoy!
